Born in Casterton Vic., 1876; died 24 December 1951.
One of twelve children, to Samuel Smith (c.1834-1897) and Ann Elizabeth née Sutton (d.1898). The family settled on the grazing property 'Moira Park', Yielima.
Winnie collected MEL specimens at Murray River, 1892, and 'Moira Park', Yielima, 1895.
Winnie trained and worked as a nurse in Melbourne. In 1915, she joined the Australian Army Nursing Service, and served in England during the First World War. She was discharged from the Service on her marriage to a Mr Watson in 1917.
Winnie died in 1951 in her 75th year.
