Rippey, Elizabeth   (fl.1990s-2000s)Elizabeth Rippey grew up in Zimbabwe, inheriting a keen interest in
natural history from her ecologist parents, Barbara Rowland and agricultural scientist John Westcar Rowland.
Graduating in geography and economics, her first professional jobs were
    in economic research.
After migrating to Australia, Elizabeth completed a
doctorate on the vegetation and ecology of the islands in the
South-West Region of WA, and became an honorary research fellow in
the School of Earth and Geographical Sciences at The University of
Western Australia.
Although Elizabeth has had a love of painting
since her childhood, it was only when at home with small children that
she first began to develop her artistic skills in combination with her
    interests in natural history.
She has contributed to a wide range of
publications, including books on sea shells, conservation, travel and
    pathology.
Recently Elizabeth has had a close association with Rottnest
Island, writing and illustrating a range of information brochures.
She illustrated the 1995 books 'Plants of the Perth Coast and Islands' and 'Coastal Plants - Perth and the South-West Region', (UWA Press) with plant descriptions by her mother Barbara Rowland.
She has also published a book 'Christmas Island: Animals, Plants and Island Ecology' with Nic Dunlop in 2015.
