His work in Rural Extension started in Rhodesia/Zimbabwe and led on to Farming Systems Research, mainly in tropical SE Asia and PNG, and also Australia.

He co-authored 'Plants of the Kimberley Region of W. Australia' (2003) while with the Rangeland Management Branch of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia.
