 Briggs, John D.   (1954 - )
    Briggs, John D.   (1954 - )Born in Victoria in 1954 and
    graduated Bachelor of Science (Forestry)
    from the Australian National University (ANU) in
    1976. 
    
    In the late 1970s and early 1980s he was a
    Technical Officer with the CSIRO Division of
    Plant Industry, Canberra. He was
    concerned with projects funded by the World
    Wildlife Fund, Australia, investigating plant
    species believed to be extinct or endangered
    and is a co-author of Rare or Threatened
    Australian Plants. 
He was also
    involved in identifying and nominating the
    most appropriate sites of endangered plant
    species for inclusion in the Register of the
    National Estate for the Australian Heritage
    Commission.
He worked with Lindsay Pryor on an investigation into threatened Eucalypts in Australia.
    For most of his later professional life he was an officer with New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), Southern Directorate.
